So, of course Jabber is the best IM on the face of the planet. But what are some quick and easy ways to force greater adoption? I'm hoping that due to the recent actions by Yahoo and MSN to only allow their own clients to connect, that maybe some people will get frustrated with those bigger name services.

Mon, January 19, 2004 - 6:52 PMI'm using AMSN, which is a MSN Messenger clone written in Tcl.
As lightweight as you can get !
I think the strength of Jabber shouldn't be comparing itself to mainstream networks, but earning its own space in opensource software, with new applications that mainstream companies just can't afford producing.
I hate it, but the quote fits here ... "think different"

Sat, April 10, 2004 - 6:10 PMI think the real driving force will have to be when there are more data services available. People like *cool* things.
I like to think of XMPP as being what the semantic web is failing to become, a sort of lingua-franca for simple data-driven apps.
Look at all the dating sites - if we could get jabberPersonals going, or even jabberAuctions ...
Just offering people interop isn't doing to motivate anyone to switch, since most people have all their friends on one network. -
