Googling turns up a lot of references to Tribe.net using FOAF with Jabber, but there's no direct reference I can find.
Does anyone else know if there's something in the works?
I'd be very interest to hear if someone is doing this, as I'm currently writing my dissertation on trust networks over XMPP.

Re: Friend-Of-A-Friend over Jabber
Thu, November 11, 2004 - 10:39 AMHey Thomas-
Well, at long last tribe.net is preparing to turn on an XMPP server to facilitate chat between tribe members. We are currently doing an internal test of the openim XMPP server, and so far it seems to be working out pretty well. We went with the Java based server so that we could leverage our existing application's account management and "roster" (i.e. friends list) implementation.
It is pretty exciting to consider potential applications of a persistent connection style client (rather than the boring request/reply browser model). Hopefully we will be able to unleash this thing soon.

Sun, June 26, 2005 - 11:08 PMCheck out JEP-0154... there is a section explaining why FOAF might not be right for jabber.
I'd be interested to see what other research you've done for your disseratation... I'm working on distributed social networking over XMPP.
